The date-format setting gives each institution one consistent presentation format for dates shown to users across the portal.
This setting changes display text only. It does not change stored database dates, timestamps, calendar data, or the value submitted by machine-readable controls.
Before you begin
- Institution Admin is allowed to change this setting.
- Use the institution standard consistently so printed reports, emails, and portal screens are easy to compare.
Choose and verify the institution display convention
-
Open Date Format
Open System Settings and select Date Format. The setting opens in the same modal-style workflow used by the timezone setting.
-
Review the format cards
Select the format card that best matches the institution convention. Each card shows an example so administrators can see the order of day, month, and year before saving.
-
Save the selection
Select Save Date Format. The selected format is stored against the institution and becomes the default for user-facing date rendering after the next page load.
-
Verify the result
Open a page that displays dates, such as accommodation operations, student finance, schedules, or reports. Confirm that the visible date order matches the selected format.
Changing the format does not convert or rewrite historical records. It changes how supported user-facing dates are presented.
What changes
Date labels, date ranges, table values, summaries, and other user-facing date text use the institution selection wherever the page uses the shared date formatter.
What does not change
Stored SQL dates and timestamps remain unchanged. HTML date inputs, ISO values used by JavaScript, ICS calendar values, and API-style values remain machine-readable and are not rewritten into display text.
Recommended next step
If a page still shows a legacy format, report the page name so its date output can be moved to the shared formatter.
