OCR for Higher Education

Higher education ERP and SIS features across five operational areas

OCR for Higher Education brings academic governance, examinations, finance, campus operations, and employee and faculty management together in a university ERP and student information system.

Platform overview

Academic, campus, and administrative workflows come together in OCR for Higher Education.

Underlying platform: OCR for Education

Illustrative examples; vendor offerings vary. Actual portal, sender, verification, and invitation details depend on configuration and the supported communication flow.

Custom Portal Domain

Use an institution-controlled subdomain. System Settings shows the ownership and DNS steps, then lets an administrator verify the portal mapping.

Institutional Branding

Use separate web and mobile logo assets, where supported, and institution identity details across portal views and communications.

Authenticated Institutional Email

Configure an institution-specific MailFrom domain and sender display identity for supported communications.

SPF & DKIM Verification

Publish the DNS records provided in System Settings and verify the sending domain and authentication records before configuring its sender.

Branded Notifications

Supported notices and invitations can use the configured institution identity, branding, and portal links. Details depend on the communication flow.

Self-Service Setup

An authorized administrator manages branding and domain settings in OCR. The institution’s IT team publishes the DNS records and the administrator verifies setup in the platform.

Configure your identity in two self-service flows

  1. Portal domain: Enter the institution-controlled hostname, have the IT team publish the CNAME and ownership records shown in OCR, then verify the mapping and activation status.
  2. Email identity: Enter the sending domain, have the IT team publish the generated DNS records, verify the domain, SPF, and DKIM status, then configure the sender identity.

Examination & Academic Policy

Examination Governance and DMC Assessment

Configure exam types, assessments, venues, approvals, marking, result publication, and student DMC presentation.

GPA and CGPA Grading Framework

Apply institutional grading schemes and calculate GPA or CGPA alongside marks and assessment results.

Semester Promotions and Graduation Batch Review

Attendance and Student Submissions

Support attendance review, academic submissions, assessment workflows, and role-based access to student records.

Financial Controls & Billing

Programme Fee Structures and Batch Invoicing

Coordinate student finance, programme charges, batch billing, payment records, and clear account workflows.

Campus Transfer Fee Controls

Apply campus-specific transfer requirements and keep student movement aligned with institution policy.

Automated Financial Holds

Use institution-configured financial rules to control access to applicable academic actions when balances are due.

Scheduling & Campus Operations

Class Allocation and Timetable Overrides

Coordinate academic terms, class schedules, faculty assignments, room requirements, and approved timetable changes.

Room Allotment and Physical Room Displays

Allocate classrooms and exam venues by campus, capacity, and availability, then show current schedules on room displays.

Video Workspace Bridges

Connect class and meeting schedules with Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.

Accommodation and Campus Services

Manage residence buildings, occupancy, allocations, student movements, transportation, and campus service approvals.

Events, Notifications, and Calendar Invitations

Keep students, faculty, employees, and administrators informed about events, bookings, examinations, and schedule changes.

Campus transportation

Manage campus vehicles, routes, stops, passenger capacity, and effective stop fares. Students request service, Campus Admin approves requests, and Finance verifies payment before an active request provides a downloadable PDF pass with a QR verification page.

Academic and campus events

HODs schedule class-wide academic events and Campus Admin schedules campus-wide events. Notify eligible students and linked parents, manage per-student event fees, and collect post-event feedback.

Employment, Faculty Contracts & Payroll

Manage employee and faculty appointments through institution and campus HR scopes, effective-dated contract versions, configurable leave policies, and finance-controlled salary processing.

Institution and Campus Employment HR

Assign dedicated HR access for institution-wide or selected campus contract work while Institution Admin retains control of policy, grade catalogs, and HR assignments.

Employee and Faculty Contracts

Issue versioned appointments with designation, department, campus, dates, salary, workload, contract terms, notice periods, and configurable signed-PDF acceptance.

Employment Grades and Salary Steps

Define grade scales and salary steps, preserve contract history, and record approved increments or promotions as effective-dated contract versions.

Staff Leave and Semester Break Policies

Configure contract-eligible leave, allowances, approvals, and carry-forward. Define salary treatment for semester breaks, term-time appointments, and separate teaching assignments.

Tax-aware Payroll and Staff Ledgers

Show contract tax estimates and take-home pay, then process finance-approved salary batches with eligible overtime, additional duties, visiting faculty payments, bonuses, leave deductions, and advance recovery.

Employment Lifecycle and Experience Letters

Configure scoped reviewers for faculty and employee resignations, separation clearance, and experience letters. Keep personal My Records separate from the Employment Approvals queue, with QR-verifiable issued letters.

University management with institution-specific billing

Under the approved student-collection model, participating institutions also pay no software subscription: students pay the institution-configured portal charge. OCR's share and any eligible institution share follow the agreement and billing policy, with eligible balances recorded in settlements for payout. Charges, deductions and settlement timing follow each institution's approved terms.
